Smoking before otoplasty (ear pinning)?

It is advisory to stop smoking for 2 weeks prior to any surgery I had a minor op last month and to be honest if you could stop just for 2 weeks you might as well quit so I continued to smoke as normal up to the morning of my surgery where I only had half a cigarette about 2 hours before I was due onto the ward it can cause breathing difficulties when having general anaesthetic which is 1 of the reasons you are advised not to smoke before hand also its said that healing takes longer but its not anything to worry about as its not life threatening if you didn't stop smoking
